LUFC Christiansen - It Was A Horrible Game

Thomas Christiansen admitted it was a horrible game from a Leeds perspective after seeing his side lose their four game winning run with a 1-0 defeat at bottom of the table Birmingham City.

In a poor game, Birmingham won the game with a late goal from Jacques Maghoma and Christiansen admitted afterwards that it was a horrible game.

'From my point of view it was a horrible game. There were not many opportunities, with each goalkeeper making one good save," Christiansen told the BBC.

'It was a difficult game as we were aware what the opponents would do, with Sam Gallagher their target man.

'It was disappointing not to take three points. When it was goalless I thought it wouldn't be a bad result in the situation that existed.'

Neither keeper were forced into a meaningful save until the final twenty minutes of the game and it was a substitute from either side that brought the game to life.

Samu Saiz, who was returning from a calf injury as a substitute, ignited some life into the Leeds attack and his run found Pablo Hernandez and the Spaniard, who had scored in each of Leeds last two games saw his shot saved by David Stockdale with the rebound hitting the top of the bar.

For Birmingham, Jota came on with just under 15 minutes remaining to cause problems down the Leeds left.

David Davis came close to opening the scoring for Birmingham after good work down the right but Felix Wiedwald in the Leeds goal saved his shot.

Minutes later, Birmingham scored the only goal of the game when Wiedwald could only parry Jota`s shot into the path of Maghoma fired the ball into the roof of the net.

Despite the defeat, Leeds move into 2018 in fifth place in the Championship and they will be looking to bounce back when they welcome Nottingham Forest to Elland Road on New Year`s Day.
