LUFC Christiansen Makes Bold Claim About Goalkeeper

LUFC Christiansen Makes Bold Claim About Goalkeeper

Leeds United head coach Thomas Christiansen claims Felix Wiedwald is amongst the best goalkeepers in the Championship.

Christiansen was backing his German goalkeeper, who has had a rocky time since his arrival from Werder Bremen in the summer.

Wiedwald was guilty of making a mistake for Queens Park Rangers goal at Loftus Road last weekend, to give the home side late hope in the game and he redeemed himself moments later with a good save to keep Leeds ahead in the game.

The 27-year-old has only recently regained his starting place in the side after errors saw him lose his starting place in the side to Andy Lonergan.

Christiansen was quick to point at the good things Wiedwald has done since his arrival at Elland Road when he was questioned about the keepers place in the side.

"He made one mistake but he also saved the team two important points when the score was 2-1," Christiansen told his press conference ahead of the clash with Norwich City this weekend.

"I look for the positive things that he did.

"I am happy with what I have, this is clear.

"Felix, when you see his numbers, he is one of the best in the league with clean sheets and saves."

Wiedwald has made 16 appearances for Leeds since his arrival in the summer, keeping seven clean sheets. Leeds have only lost in 5 of his 16 appearances, including the league cup tie at Premier League side Leicester City.
