LUFC Roofe Happy To Play Wherever For Leeds

LUFC Roofe Happy To Play Wherever For Leeds

Leeds United forward Kemar Roofe says he hopes he has shown people where he prefers to play but he is happy to play anywhere for the club as long as they win the game.

Roofe scored his second hat-trick of the season in the 3-1 win at Queens Park Rangers on Saturday after he was moved into an attacking role following an injury to Caleb Ekuban in the first half.

The former Oxford forward, who scored 26 goals for the U`s in their promotion season of 2015/16, has mainly played out wide for Leeds since his arrival from Oxford in the summer of 2016.

In his first season at Leeds, he managed just three goals in 49 appearances for the club, as Chris Wood was the preferred option in attack.

This season, Wood then Pierre-Michel Lasogga and Caleb Ekuban have been preferred in the striker role but Roofe has shown his credentials as they main striker and his goals at Loftus Road on Saturday, were his seventh, eighth and ninth of the season. All his goals have come when he has played as a striker, those goals coming in his six games as the main attacking target.

Roofe would like to start upfront but he is happy to play wherever for Leeds as long as they win.

"Hopefully I`ve shown people that that`s my preferred position but obviously wherever I get put I`m going to give 100 per cent." Roofe told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

"It`s another hat-trick ball for my mantelpiece at home to look at every day but the main thing is the three points. I was happy with the one goal as long as we got the points."

Roofe could start in attack against Norwich City on Saturday with Ekuban and Lasogga both struggling through injury.

Ekuban was forced off after just 38 minutes on Saturday with a foot injury. The striker has only just returned to the side after breaking his foot at Sunderland in August and he could be set for another spell on the sidelines.

Lasogga hasn`t featured in Leeds five games since their return from the international break, with head coach Thomas Christiansen saying the German striker is sidelined with a calf injury.
