LUFC Trio Hoping For Trip To Russia Next Summer

LUFC Trio Hoping For Trip To Russia Next Summer

Leeds United trio Stuart Dallas, Pontus Jansson and Eunan O`Kane will all hope to help their countries to the World Cup finals in the next few days.

Dallas, who is a major injury doubt for Northern Ireland for their second leg clash in Switzerland tonight, face the most daunting task after the first legs.

The Leeds winger was forced off through injury in the first leg at Windsor Park on Thursday night after suffering a foot injury.

Northern Ireland travel to Switzerland looking to turnaround a 1-0 deficit. Northern Ireland conceded a controversial penalty in the first leg and they must win in Basel if they are going to reach the World Cup finals for the first time since 1986.

Jansson travels to Italy tomorrow with the Sweden squad looking to hold on to their slender advantage from the first leg.

Sweden won 1-0 thanks to a second half goal from Jakob Johansson with Jansson an unused substitute.

Italy will miss out on the World Cup finals for the first time since 1958 if Sweden can hold onto their advantage at the San Siro Stadium.

Despite making the 27-man squad for the clash with Denmark, Eunan O`Kane was not part of the 23-man squad named for the first leg in Denmark on Saturday evening.

Republic of Ireland ground out an excellent goalless draw in Denmark and they now go into the second leg in Dublin on Tuesday night knowing a win would see them qualify for the finals in Russia next summer.
