Leeds Ensure They Are Entitled To Compensation For Taylor

Leeds United have offered want away defender Charlie Taylor a new two-year deal to ensure they receive compensation when he leaves the club this summer.

The 23-year-old is out of contract this summer and looks set to leave having handed in a transfer request last summer and then refusing to play in Leeds final game of the season at Wigan Athletic.

Leeds turned down his transfer request last summer and he had been a regular in the side in the first half of the season until an Achilles injury sustained in December saw him struggle to reclaim his place in the side when he returned to full fitness in March.

Taylor made seven appearances in the final two months of the season but his refusal to play at Wigan saw him fined two weeks` wages.

Premier League side West Bromwich Albion have admitted their interest in Taylor and with the defender out of contract this summer, Leeds were entitled to compensation from his new club as long as they offered him a new deal on the same wages.

Taylor is now expected to turn down the offer and leave the club when his contract ends at the end of June.
