LUFC Striker Says He Is Not Finished At Leeds

LUFC Striker Says He Is Not Finished At Leeds

Leeds United striker Marcus Antonsson has indicated that he ready to stay and fight for his place at the club next season.

The Swedish striker struggled to maintain a regular place in the side during his first season at Elland Road following his move from Kalmar FF last summer.

Antonsson signed a three-year deal at Leeds last summer after scoring ten goals in the opening twelve games of the season in the Swedish top division.

After a good start, when he scored two goals in his first five appearances for Leeds, he netted just once more in the Capital Cup tie against Norwich City, his chances in the first team became limited, and he made just three appearances in 2017.

The 26-year-old has been linked with a return to the Allsvenskan but Antonsson says he his focus is still at Leeds.

"It`s a sign that you`ve done something good," Antonsson told Swedish website Fotbolldirekt.

"It`s flattering when a top (Swedish) club wants you.

"I`ve grown up with the Allsvenskan and I love the division so yes, it`s flattering but my focus is still at Leeds. I know I`m far from being done abroad.

"In a way it`s been a strange season with not much playing time but when I think back on the season I`ve learned a lot. It`s different football, more physical, and you have to adapt a little.

"My condition is much better now that I`ve got this season behind me.

"I feel like I`ve developed and right now I don`t feel ready to take a step back."
