Speed Inducted Into National Football Museum Hall Of Fame

Former Leeds United midfielder Gary Speed is amongst the latest inductees to the National Football Museum Hall Of Fame.

Speed, who started his career at Elland Road, has been inducted for his dedication to the game after making over 800 career appearances, including over 500 in the top-flight of English football in a career spanning almost 20-years.

The former Wales manager, who sadly died at the age of 42 in 2011, made over 300 appearances for Leeds helping them win both the Second Division title and First Division title in the space of three-years.

After leaving Leeds, he went on to play for Everton, Newcastle United, Bolton Wanderers and Sheffield United before going into management with Sheffield United and he then became the Welsh national team manager before his untimely death.

Speed was joined by former players Billy Bonds, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard and Bob Wilson in being inducted into the Hall of Fame this year.

A host of the former players, including Hall of Fame members Gordon Banks, Sir Bobby Charlton, Sir Geoff Hurst, Roger Hunt and Peter Schmeichel, decided his inclusion in the Hall of Fame.

Speed has previously been inducted into the Welsh Football Hall of Fame.
