LUFC On This Day - July 19th

A look back at what happened in the recent history at Leeds United on July 19th.

2006
Youngster Simon Walton leaves Leeds and joins Charlton Athletic for a reported 500,000.

Millwall midfielder David Livermore is on the verge of signing for Leeds after the two clubs agreed a deal for the player.

2007
Leeds pre-season game in Germany against Dynamo Dresden is called off on Police advice. Leeds are desperately seeking an alternative game.

2011
The trip to Peterborough United on October 22nd is to kick off at the earlier time of 12pm on Police advice. It is the eleventh game involving Leeds to be moved already this summer, either on Police advice or for live TV coverage.

Leeds boss Simon Grayson includes three trialists in the pre-season game at Rochdale.

Alex Mendy, J. Lloyd Samuel and Isaiah Osbourne all appear for Leeds in a 1-0 win.

Max Gradel scores the only goal of the game for Leeds as they make it three wins from three in pre-season.

Leeds boss Simon Grayson says striker Luciano Becchio is likely to miss the start of the season after suffering a reoccurrence of a hamstring injury that forced him to miss the end of the previous season.

2012
Leeds United boss Neil Warnock says he expects Michael Brown to sign a new deal with the club.

The midfielder was out of contract at the end of last season and Warnock explained at the beginning of the summer that he had offered Brown a new deal on a vastly reduced wage.

The 35 year old returned for the start of pre-season training last week and Warnock expects Brown to sign a new deal, starting at the beginning of August.

Speaking on the official website, Warnock said, 'We have offered Michael another year and I think we`ll start from next month.'

2013
Leeds trip to Sheffield Wednesday has been put back 24-hours.

The game originally scheduled for Saturday January 11th will now take place on Sunday January 12th, with a 3pm kick off.

The game has been moved at the request of South Yorkshire Police.

(It was to revert back to Saturday with Sky TV wanting to show the game live.)
