Hockaday looking forward to working with Ross

New Leeds United first team coach David Hockaday says he is looking forward to working with Ross McCormack.

McCormack was the leading goalscorer in the Football League last season and he has been linked with a move to a number of clubs already this summer but Hockaday says he feels the chemistry is right for McCormack to remain at Elland Road.

Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post , Hockaday said, "Ross is a Leeds United player who signed a four-year deal and has put it out that he is really happy here. The chemistry is right and when that is right for a player and he gets on well at the club and the club get on well with him, that`s great.

"He`s obviously an important Leeds player. But they are all important Leeds players and I am looking forward to coaching Ross and working with him."

Owner Massimo Cellino expressed his desire to hold onto McCormack when he unveiled Hockaday as the new first team coach last week with Cellino saying he would only let him go to a big club.

Hockaday will meet up with McCormack and the rest of the first team squad on Thursday when the squad return for the start of pre-season training.
