LUFC Leeds lose winding-up petition
Leeds United have been ordered to pay Sports Capital money owed to them after losing their winding-up petition in the High Court on Tuesday.
Leeds were served with a winding-up petition for £950,000 from Sports Capital following a loan made to the club last year.
Owner Massimo Cellino challenged the petition made by Sports Capital saying the loan was made directly by former Leeds United managing director David Haigh but a court ruled in the favour of Sports Capital, stating it was clear where the money had come from.
Leeds bank accounts are currently frozen because of the winding-up petition and players went unpaid at the end of May, the second time in three-months that they have failed to receive their full wages having agreed to defer 50 per-cent of their wages in March as Cellino tried to claim control of the club.
The club now have until June 23rd to pay the money back plus interested and they have said that they now intend to pay the money in full before they are set to return to court a week on Monday.
