*On this day in 1982 Leeds United needed to beat Brighton and Hove Albion to have any chance of staying in the top-flight. Trailing 1-0 with just over ten minutes remaining, two goals in the space of a few minutes late on sparked amazing scenes at Elland Road. Unfortunately it wasn`t enough, with Leeds losing their final game of the season at West Brom and relegation to the Second Division.

** On this day in 2008, Leeds booked their place in the League One play-off final with a dramatic second leg win at Carlisle United. Trailing 2-1 from the first leg at Elland Road, Leeds won 2-0 at Brunton Park thanks to two goals from Jonny Howson, the second coming with just seconds remaining.
