'If It's Football, It's Vital'

LUFC Young Leeds midfielder enjoying Euro finals

Young Leeds United midfielder Lewis Cook says England plan to go all the way after winning their opening game in the under-17`s European Championships.

England made the perfect start to the tournament last week with a 3-0 win over Malta.

Lewis came on with eleven minutes remaining in the first group game for England against the hosts with the side already 3-0 ahead.

Speaking on the FA Website, Cook said, 'It was a great start to the tournament. We needed to get a positive result to get us going.

'We knew had a good chance against Malta, but we didn't get complacent, and we played well and got a few goals.

'We want to go all the way here and it's a lovely island and the weather has been brilliant - I'm not too keen on the Mosquitos though! I've been bitten a few times."

England play their second game against Turkey today and the Yorkshire born midfielder is now hoping to push himself into the starting line-up. 'I like a midfield battle and I think that's what will be in store when we face Turkey - it'll be my sort of game.

'We've played them twice and both times they were very physical and hard-working - so we need to match that.

'So it's going to be very tough, but I like that type of game, so I can't wait to get out there.'

England go into the game knowing a win would almost guarantee their place in the semi-finals after Turkey lost their opening game 3-2 against Holland.
