LUFC Brown wants to continue playing

Leeds United midfielder Michael Brown says he wants to carry on playing whether it is at Elland Road or somewhere else.

The 37-year-old is out of contract at Leeds this summer after two-years with the club following his arrival from Portsmouth. Brown is hoping to continue playing for at least another year as well as starting on the road to becoming a coach.

Speaking to Adam Pope on BBC Radio Leeds after the game with Derby at the weekend, Brown said, "At 37 you take it in your stride whichever way it`s going to be.

"For the last few years I`ve been here to help, to play some games, play some minutes, whether that`s 20 minutes here or there and to help around the dressing room. That`s what I think I`ve done and I hope I still show a good example, hopefully to the young players and long may it continue.

"But I want to carry on playing. I don`t want to just step down and do some coaching. I want to play another year, maybe with a bit of coaching on top and we will see where it takes me. If it`s here then we`ll have that conversation but I`m not sure what direction the club are going in at the moment. Only time will tell.

"I`ve just enjoyed my day today and I`m looking forward to the summer.

"I still love it and I want to carry on. You`ve just got to look after yourself, stay fit and be headstrong."

Brown was signed by Neil Warnock is the summer of 2012 on a one-year deal. He made 33-appearances for Leeds in his first season and his 30th appearance at Ipswich Town was enough to trigger a clause in his contract that earned him a new one-year deal with the club.

This season he has made just 19 appearances but he has been a regular in the side in the final month of the season. He has rolled back the years in recent weeks with his usual combative displays in the Leeds midfield but with the club looking to go in a new direction under new owner Massimo Cellino it is unlikely that he will remain with Leeds.

Brown has made 78 appearances for Leeds during his three-years with the club scoring 3 times.
