LUFC McDermott planning for summer clearance

LUFC McDermott planning for summer clearance

Leeds United boss Brian McDermott says he is planning for a summer clear-out after watching his side lose 2-0 to Nottingham Forest.

McDermott is due to meet new owner Massimo Cellino in the next week as they start to plan for the 2014/15 season.

Leeds have a number of players out of the contract at the end of this season including Jamie Ashdown, Danny Pugh, Michael Brown, Paul Green, El Hadji Diouf, Luke Varney and Adam Drury and McDermott admits he needs to address the problems at Elland Road.

Speaking after the game, McDermott said, "We need to plan for players, the squad and how we`re going to do things. We need to definitely look at players coming in and we`ve got changes to make to the squad, there`s no doubt about that. We need to address things.

"We`ve got a list of targets and we need to do deals."

On the pitch, Leeds saw their two game winning run end with a disappointing 2-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Matt Derbyshire scored twice for the visitors inside the opening twenty minutes as the problems that have dogged Leeds since the turn of the year came back to haunt the whites.

Leeds failed to trouble Dorus De Vries in the Forest goal in the first half and despite enjoying most of the pressure in the second half, Leeds couldn`t find a way back into the game.

The defeat for Leeds was their 21st of the season and their ninth at home and they will definitely finish in the bottom half of the table.
