LUFC Burnley v Leeds United - History

Leeds United make the relatively short trip across the Pennines to face Burnley on Saturday and we look back at the head-to-head record between the two at Turf Moor.

Saturday will be the 28th meeting between the two sides since they first faced each other during the 1924/25 season.

In the previous 27, Burnley have won10, Leeds have won 12 and there have been 5 draws.

The first meeting in the 1924/25 season saw the sides draw on that occasion 1-1 with Jock Thorn scoring for Leeds.

The following season Burnley recorded their first win when they beat Leeds 6-3.

Leeds had to wait until the fifth meeting at Turf Moor before recording their first win. Two goals from Tom Jennings and one from Harry Duggan secured a 3-0 win.

Leeds enjoyed their biggest win during the 1931/32 season when they won 5-0. Joe Firth (2), Tom Cochrane (2) and Billy Furness the scorers on that occasion.

Leeds have won on six of their last season visits to Turf Moor with the only defeat in that time coming during the 2006/07 season when they lost 2-1.

The two sides have met in the last three seasons at Turf Moor.
In the December of the 2010/11 season, Leeds were trailing 2-0 at half time and were being taunted by the Burnley fans, who were singing, 'You should have gone Christmas shopping,` Leeds came back with three goals in the second half from Max Gradel, Luciano Becchio and Jonny Howson to clinch the three points.

In the 2011/12 season, Leeds trailed 1-0 with less than fifteen minutes remaining but two goals from Robert Snodgrass secured a 2-1 win.

Burnley won 1-0 when the two sides met last season with Charlie Austin scoring a late winner.
