LUFC Leeds Loan Watch - February 9th - 15th

LUFC Leeds Loan Watch - February 9th - 15th

Vital Leeds will once again be looking at how our loan players are doing away from Elland Road this season.

Leeds have eight players out on loan. Steve Morison (Millwall), Ross Killock, Nathan and Lewis Turner (Chester) and Charlie Taylor (Fleetwood),Paul Green (Ipswich Town) and Luke Varney (Blackburn Rovers) are all out on loan for the remainder of the season.

This week, young midfielder Simon Lenighan joined FC Halifax Town on a one month loan deal.

Steve Morison - Millwall (Season)
Starting in midweek first. The striker ended his ten game goal drought as he headed in a crucial equaliser for Millwall in their 1-1 draw at fellow strugglers Yeovil Town as he completed 90 minutes.

On Saturday, Millwall faced another side struggling at the wrong end of the championship table in Bolton Wanderers. Morison again completed 90 minutes and it was his cross, which led to Millwall equalising in the late stages of the 1-1 draw at the New Den.

The two draws in the last week leave Millwall just one place above the relegation zone.

Appearances 28 goals 5

Paul Green - Ipswich Town (Season)
Green made his first start for Ipswich in their home game with Blackpool on Saturday. The midfielder lasted 71 minutes before being substituted in the 0-0 draw.

Appearances 2 goals 0

Luke Varney - Blackburn Rovers (Season)
Blackburn were not in action this weekend with their opponents Brighton and Hove Albion still involved in the FA Cup. The game is rearranged for Tuesday February 25th.

Appearances 1 goals 0

Charlie Taylor - Fleetwood Town (Season)
Starting in midweek first, Taylor played the 90 minutes has Fleetwood came from behind to claim a point in a 1-1 draw at Wycombe Wanderers.

Taylor completed another 90 minutes for Fleetwood as they kept their promotion push on track against struggling Northampton Town.

Fleetwood won 2-0 thanks to a goal in each half from Gareth Evans. The Cod Army remain in the play-off places and they are just three points behind second placed Scunthorpe United with a game in hand.

Taylor will be hoping to help his side reach Wembley in midweek but they face an uphill task as they travel to Chesterfield, trailing 3-1 from the first leg.

Appearances 25 goals 0

Nathan Turner - Chester (Season)
Nathan is still out of the Chester side through injury.

The midfielder hasn`t played since picking up an injury at Hereford United on November 12th.

Appearances 18 goals 0

Lewis Turner - Chester (Season)
Chester had their weekend game with FC Halifax Town moved to Thursday to accommodate live coverage on BT Sport.

It was a great opportunity for Leeds fans to see three products of the Leeds United academy on show with Simon Lenighan in the FC Halifax side after joining them on a one-month loan deal earlier in the week.

Chester secured a crucial three points in a dramatic finale. Chester had the advantage of an extra man for the final 50 minutes of the game after Halifax had Josh Wilson sent off.

Turner played his part in Chester taking the lead early in the second half when his superb right wing cross was finished from close range by Craig Mahon.

Turner completed the 90 minutes and he looked dangerous whenever he received the ball on the Chester right.

Halifax thought they had claimed a point when they equalised in stoppage time but there was still time for Chester to grab a winner when Jamie Menagh nipped in to finish with the Halifax defence hesitating.

Appearances 29 goals 1

Ross Killock - Chester FC (Season)
Killock also played the 90 minutes in the above game. The young central defender looked accomplished in the centre of the Chester defence and he was always looking for an easy ball to feet (he could teach the first team a thing or two.)

He almost opened the scoring in the first half but he failed to finish from close range after the Halifax goalkeeper failed to hold the ball.

It was a crucial three points for Chester who moved up one place in the table to 19th but there is still just three points between them and Tamworth in the third of the four relegation places.

Appearances 12 goals 0

Simon Lenighan - FC Halifax Town (One month from February 10th
Lenighan made his debut for Halifax after signing in midweek. The midfielder started the game for former Leeds defender Neil Aspin`s side but he looked a little off the pace, giving away a couple of clumsy free-kicks. He was substituted at half time but he is sure to get better with regular first team football.

The defeat was a blow for Halifax who missed the chance to climb into the play-off places.

It is his second spell away from Elland Road this season after spending a month on loan with Bradford Park Avenue in the autumn.

Appearances 1 Goals 0

Bradford Park Avenue (October - November)

Appearances 5 goals 0
