Haigh - We made our intentions clear in the summer

Leeds United have confirmed that they have turned down a bid from West Ham United for striker Ross McCormack.

The club issued a statement on their official website with Managing Director David Haigh stating,"We received an offer from West Ham this afternoon for Ross which we have rejected.

'As a club we showed our intentions as far as Ross is concerned during the summer by offering him a new contract.'

The board turned down three separate bids from Middlesbrough in the summer before rewarding McCormack with a new four-year deal at Elland Road.

Their determination to keep the 27-year-old striker was justified, he has repaid the faith by netting 18-goals already this season, and he is currently the leading goalscorer in the championship.

The bid from the hammers is reported to be in the region of 3.5 million but with West Ham desperate to bolster their attacking options, as they currently sit in the relegation zone in the Premier League, they are sure to return to test the resolve of Leeds once again before the transfer window closes next Friday.
