LUFC McDermott - We need to restore our pride

Leeds United boss Brian McDermott says they need to give the fans something to cheer about after a poor start to the year.

Leeds come into the game without a win in six games and on the back of embarrassing defeats to Rochdale in the FA Cup and a 6-0 mauling at Yorkshire neighbours Sheffield Wednesday.

The Leeds boss is looking to restore some pride against league leaders Leicester City in front of the live Sky TV cameras.

Speaking on LUTV, McDermott said, "We need a reaction and we need to restore our pride. We are hurting and we need to turn that hurt into a positive.

"We need to give our fans something to cheer about. I know our fans, I know they will put up with quite a lot but they need to see the tackling, running, power, pace and effort and players willing to die for the shirt.

"It is a great challenge for us and I cannot wait for the challenge to get up off the floor and get going again."

Leeds will be hoping lightning strikes twice. When the two sides met last season, Leicester were top of the championship table but a solitary strike from Luciano Becchio ensured the three points remained at Elland Road.

Despite Leeds recent poor form, the defeat to Blackburn in their last home game was their first defeat at Elland Road since September. Leeds also know a win could lift them back to within a point of the play-off places for at least a few hours.
