LUFC Haigh looking forward to more signings

Leeds United Managing Director David Haigh says he is looking forward to making more signings after defender Marius Zaliukas signed a new deal at Elland Road.

Zaliukas was rewarded with a new deal yesterday after making an impressive start at Elland Road. The Lithuanian international has signed a new deal until the summer of 2015 having quickly endeared himself to the Leeds fans despite making just ten appearances for the club since his arrival on a short-term deal in November.

The deal shows Leeds forward thinking and Haigh, who is part of a consortium currently trying to buy a 75% stake in the club, says he is now looking forward to more players coming into the club in the January transfer window.

Speaking on the official website , Haigh said, 'As we have already shown with new contracts for Ross McCormack and Alex Mowatt, we are constantly looking to the future, and Marius has a big part to play for us in that future.

'We're delighted he has signed, and we look forward to making further signings in January'

The Football League is currently in the process of ratifying the deal involving Haigh to buy their stake in the club and they are hoping it will be done in the next week.

Leeds boss Brian McDermott will be hoping the deal can be concluded quickly as he looks to add to his squad and make a sustained challenge for promotion from the championship.

The whites slipped out of the play-off places following their defeat at Nottingham Forest on Sunday and McDermott has stated that he has given the Leeds board a list of four names he would like to bring into the club during this month.
