LUFC McDermott - We should have won the game

Leeds United boss Brian McDermott felt his side should have taken all three points in the draw at Blackpool.

Leeds looked set for three crucial away points at Bloomfield Road thanks to a first goal for the club from Lee Peltier until Tom Ince saw his shot from the edge of the area deflected past Paddy Kenny.

McDermott felt his side were well in control of the game until the equaliser, feeling it was a good away performance.

Speaking on BBC Radio Leeds, McDermott said, "I thought we should have won the game, they never really troubled us and we looked organised and in control of the game and it was a decent away performance.

"Blackpool is never an easy place to come and get a result, we are picking up points, we would have preferred three but we will take a point but we will now go to Forest and try and get a result.

"It was an organised away performance and we feel we could have won the game."

Controversy reigned after Blackpool had equalised when their defender Kirk Broadfoot somehow got away with a yellow card after hauling back Ross McCormack.

Broadfoot was clearly the last defender but referee Scott Mathieson only produced a yellow much to the dismay of Leeds.

Broadfoot was sent off in the final minute of the game but by then, Leeds had missed the opportunity of facing ten-men for a quarter of the game.

Leeds will now prepare for a trip to Nottingham Forest on Sunday. Forest jumped above Leeds in the table after a 2-0 home win against Queens Park Rangers.
