McCormack closing in on a number of milestones

Inform Leeds United striker Ross McCormack is closing in on a number of long standing milestones at the club.

McCormack is closing in on three milestones, as he enjoys a hot streak in front of goal having netted 13 times in his last 11 games.

He is just four goals away from netting 50 goals for Leeds, having netted 46 times in 131 appearances since his arrival in 2010. Four goals would also see him net his 45th goal in the championship, equalling the amount scored by Luciano Becchio, who is Leeds leading goalscorer in the championship since their return to the division in 2010.

He needs three goals in the last three games of 2013 to become the first Leeds player to score 20 goals before the New Year since Peter Lorimer netted 22 goals in the 1967/68 season.

A goal in the game against Barnsley at Elland Road today would be the seventh game in a row that he has netted at home. It is the best run by a Leeds player at Elland Road since the 1959/60 season by John McCole, who went on to score in ten games in a row, the best run at Elland Road.

If he can make it seven games in a row, he will become only the fifth Leeds player ever to achieve the feat.

Tom Jennings was the first to achieve the feat when he scored fourteen goals in a seven game spell in the 1926/27 season.

Charlie Keetley also scored in seven games in a row over a two-season period, which started at the end of the 1929/30 season.

John Charles did it on two occasions. He did it over a two season period in 1955/56 and 1956/57 when he netted in nine games in a row.

In the 1952/53 season, he netted in eight games in a row as he scored sixteen goals in the eight game period, including three hat-tricks.

His recent run in front of goal has taken his tally to 17 for the season and he looks well set to beat his previous best at Leeds when he scored 19 goals in the 2011/12 season. He also looks well set to beat his best ever goalscoring season when he scored 24 goals for Cardiff City in the 2008/09 season.
