LUFC McDermott didn't want to risk Byram
Leeds United boss Brian McDermott is hoping Sam Byram will be fit enough to return for the trip to Charlton Athletic next Saturday.
Byram was forced to miss the game with Yeovil Town on Saturday after picking up a thigh injury at Huddersfield Town last weekend and McDermott says he didn`t want to risk him.
Speaking on Radio Leeds, McDermott said, "Sam was touch and go for the game but we didn`t want to risk him. He could be back for the game at Charlton next week."
Byram has only just returned to the side after a long-term hip injury saw him miss the start of the season.
The clubs player of the year last season, returned to first team action against Burnley towards the end of September.
After struggling on his return, after playing three times in his first week back in the first team, he missed three weeks before looking back to his best on his return in the 4-0 win over Birmingham City recently.
Elsewhere, fellow defender Stephen Warnock could face a spell on the sidelines after he hobbled off in the first half of the win over Yeovil.
Warnock left the ground with a protective boot on his left foot and the medical team will assess him on Monday.
