LUFC McDermott - I won't pay over the odds
Leeds United boss Brian McDermott said he knew around midday on Monday that nothing was going to happen at the club on transfer deadline day.
The window closed at 11pm on Monday without McDermott adding to his squad or moving on any players seen as surplus to requirements.
"I had a feeling around midday that nothing was going to happen," McDermott told LUTV.
Leeds have been reported as missing out on Birmingham City winger Chris Burke whilst Aidy White was being linked with a loan move to Barnsley.
Reports suggest that McDermott was put off by the asking price for Burke, who is in the final year of his current deal at the midlands club.
McDermott refused to name names but says he would not be held to ransom and would act in the best possible interests of the club.
"I won`t pay over the odds for anybody. The owners don`t know me particularly well at this time and you have to look after the interests of the football club.
"You have to look to the future and get value for money and the deals must be the best for the club and move the club forward," added McDermott.
The loan transfer window opens on Tuesday and McDermott may look to bolster his squad as well as move people on.
