LUFC Leeds owned Yorkshire Radio closed

Leeds United have suddenly closed down Yorkshire Radio, taking it off air at 6pm this evening.

Ken Bates launched the in-house station in 2006 and it has been sensationally dropped just days after Bates was removed from his role as club president.

Leeds Manager director David Haigh said in a brief statement on the official website: 'This is one of the toughest decisions we have made, and we would like to place on record our thanks to all the staff at Yorkshire Radio, who have worked tremendously hard over the years to build up a Yorkshire sports station on DAB.'

Leeds recently signed a new three-year deal with BBC Radio Leeds, allowing them to give live commentary on Leeds games for the first time since 2008.
