LUFC McDermott to give everyone a chance

Leeds United boss Brian McDermott says he once again intends to use a different side in each half as they start their three game tour of Slovenia tonight.

McDermott used two different sides in the first pre-season game of the summer against Farsley on Saturday and after doing the same again this evening, he will be looking to build the players match fitness in the next two games, extending their playing time.

'We'll play 2 teams, 45 minutes each," McDermott told the official website.

'Then in the next two games we'll probably play 60 minutes and 30 minutes if that makes sense.

'We'll get more time on the pitch and make sure everyone is raring to go.

'I look at it as a group of 25 men who are looking to go in the same direction and we'll be looking at using each and every one of them at some point over the stage of the season.'

Leeds play their first game against a Slovenian XI tonight, 5pm kick off BST, and despite travelling with the squad it seems unlikely that last season`s Player of the Year Sam Byram will take part.

Byram is still not fully fit from the hip injury that forced him to miss the final two games of last season and then pull out of the England under-20 squad for this summer`s World Cup finals.

New signing Luke Murphy is expected to feature for 45 minutes after making just a 15-minute cameo at the end of the game against Farsley on Saturday.

El Hadji Diouf (shin injury) and Ryan Hall (wife expecting) remained in England.
