'If It's Football, It's Vital'

LUFC Leeds lead the way away from home

In the latest figures released by the Football League, Leeds United once again had the best fans following in the Football League last season.

Leeds had an average following of 2,678 fans with Sheffield Wednesday next best with an average of 2,500.

The best following of the season was when 5,207 made the trip to Sheffield Wednesday for a Friday night game that was also being shown live on Sky TV.

The average is down slightly on the previous season when Leeds averaged 2,896 fans away from home.

Considering Leeds managed just three championship wins on their travels last season, including the win at Watford on the final day, it once again shows the loyalty of the travelling fans.

At Elland Road, Leeds averaged 21,572, their lowest home average since the 2006/07 season and it is only the second time the average as gone below 22,000 since the 1988/89 season.

Brighton and Hove Albion had the best home average in the Football League with an average of 26,024 going through the turnstiles at the Amex Stadium.

Despite one of their lowest home averages in modern history, Leeds were still eighth on the list of home averages.

Visiting fans to Elland Road averaged 1,125, 16th in the list, with Peterborough United having the best average with 2,031 fans on average attending games at London Road.
