McCormack - We must hang on to the clubs jewels

Leeds United striker Ross McCormack says he hopes the club hang onto Tom Lees and Sam Byram, describing them as the clubs jewels.

The defensive duo were both included in their respective England squad for major championship finals this summer, although Byram was eventually forced out through injury.

With Brian McDermott admitting this week that he may need to sell before he can buy, McCormack is hoping that it isn`t either of the duo, who have both come through the clubs academy.

"Tom and Sam are the jewels at the club," McCormack told LUTV..

"They are probably the most saleable assets and I hope we can keep them two because I think they are going to have a big future in the game."

Byram has already been linked with a number of high profile Premier League clubs since the end of the season. Arsenal, Everton, Liverpool and Manchester City have all been linked with the 19-year-old who took the championship by storm last season.

Lees spent the summer with the England under-21 squad at the European Championship finals in Israel. The 23-year-old, who has become a regular in the Leeds defence in the past two seasons, made one appearance for England as they crashed out at the group stage. Fellow championship side Bolton Wanderers have recently been linked with the Leeds academy product, who has made 93 appearances since making his debut at the start of the 2011/12 season.
