Leeds have never played a game on this day in their history, so today we look back in the Vital Leeds archives of the last few years to see what was being reported.

2010
Leeds United boss Simon Grayson says the clubs summer transfer activity isn`t over yet as they look to bolster the squad further ahead of the new season.

Leeds have already brought in four player, Kasper Schmeichel, Billy Paynter, Paul Connolly and Federico Bessone have all arrived on free transfers and with the transfer window about to re open on July 1st, Grayson says he is getting nearing the squad he wants to tackle the Championship.

Speaking on the official website, Grayson said, 'We`re getting there. I`m not putting numbers on it, but we`re actively looking to bring players in, build the squad and improve on what we did last year.'
2011
Leeds United chairman Ken Bates has said that Kasper Schmeichel has no future at Elland Road and the club will be moving on, with or without him.

Leeds agreed a deal with Leicester City on Monday for the services of Schmeichel who still has one year remaining on his current contract at Leeds.

Bates is making it clear though if Schmeichel decides to turn down a move away from Elland Road that he will not be featuring.

Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post , 'We`ve decided that we`re going to sign two new goalkeepers and Kasper will not be first choice.
'Now he has a decision to make. He either accepts that he`s out of the limelight for a year or he goes to Leicester or another club that comes in for him. We will be moving on.'
