LUFC Fry - Rowe keen on Leeds move

Whilst the Peterborough Telegraph report Barry Fry has saying that Leeds United cannot afford Tommy Rowe, Fry has told BBC Radio Leeds that Rowe is keen to join the whites.

Fry told BBC Radio Leeds that the player and his agent have been in contact with Leeds boss Brian McDermott and he is keen to return north but until there is an acceptable deal on the table he will not be leaving London Road.

Speaking on BBC Radio Leeds , Fry said, "The player and his agent have expressed an interest and they have spoken to Brian (McDermott), so there is willingness for the player to definitely join Leeds but until a transfer fee and a package can be sorted out, it will not happen.

"The player is aware of that. There are other clubs in for him, even though they are down south and not up north but the decision is up to him at the end of the day."

Rowe is originally from Manchester and he started his career at Stockport County before making the move to Peterborough in 2009.

He is one of the longest serving players at Peterborough and he has made over 150 appearances for the club since his arrival.

Rowe signed a new three-year deal with the club in 2011 but he has now refused a fresh deal offered to him by the club as he moves into his final year.

The winger picked up the player of the year award at London Road in the 2010/11 season as he helped Peterborough win promotion to the championship via the play-offs. Rowe was on target in the final as they beat Huddersfield Town 3-0 at Old Trafford.

Rowe made 32 appearances for Peterborough last season scoring 5 goals.
