McCormack disappointed to be left out by Scotland

Leeds United striker Ross McCormack has been left out of the latest Scotland squad named by Gordon Strachan today.

Scotland travel to Croatia for a World Cup qualifier on June 7th and McCormack has been keeping himself fit at Thorp Arch after the regular league season finished on May 4th.

McCormack looked to be part of the future plans of Strachan having been named in the Scotland bosses first two squads, which McCormack unfortunately had to withdraw from through injury and illness.

Speaking on his twitter feed, McCormack couldn`t hide his disappointment but said he was determined to be part of the squad next season, when he wrote.

'Absolutely gutted not to be in the Scotland squad. But I'm sure what I do next year for Leeds will have me back in there..`

It has been a stop start international career for McCormack who has made 8 appearances for his national side since making his debut in 2008.

The 26-year-old could not break his way into the squad under Craig Levein in the 2011/12 season despite finishing the season with 19 goals for Leeds.

He was called up for the first friendly against Australia last season and he scored after coming off the bench, his second goal for Scotland.

A foot injury at Cardiff in September saw him miss the autumn internationals.

Levein was dismissed in November following a dreadful start to their 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign and he was replaced by former Leeds legend Gordon Strachan.

McCormack was called up for the first two squads named by Strachan but he was forced out of both. He was forced out through illness in February before concussion ruled him out of the squad in March.

With Scotland bottom of their group in the World Cup qualifying campaign, Strachan has decided to experiment with a young squad.
