LUFC Former Keeper suffers blood clot on lung

Former Leeds United goalkeeper Paul Robinson will be out of the game for at least six months after developing a blood clot on his lung.

The 33-year-old, who is now with Championship side Blackburn Rovers, underwent a back operation last week and he suffered respiratory complications following the operation. After spending the weekend in hospital, Robinson is now at home recovering.

Robinson came through the Leeds United academy, helping the side lift the FA Youth Cup in 1997.

He made his first team debut for Leeds in 1998 and he went on to make just over 100 appearances for the club during a six-year spell in the first team.

Robinson came to the fore in the Leeds side in the 2000/01 season and he made six appearances in the Champions League, starring in the 1-1 home draw with Barcelona.

He became an England international whilst with Leeds and he wrote his name in the Leeds history books when he scored with a firm header from a corner against Swindon Town in the League Cup, with Leeds trailing in injury time. (See below)

Robinson eventually left Leeds in the summer of 2004 following their relegation from the Premier League and the club having to sell. He joined Tottenham Hotspur and spent four years at White Hart Lane before making the move to Blackburn.

Vital Leeds wish Paul a speedy recovery.
