LUFC Warnock - Club the best it has been for years

Neil Warnock says the club is now geared up to go forward and is in the best state that it has been in for a number of years.

Warnock celebrated a year in charge at Elland Road recently and despite the side once again off the play-off place, the Leeds boss says the club are definitely heading in the right direction thanks to the major overhaul in playing staff since his arrival.

Speaking at his press conference on Thursday, Warnock said, "The work that I have put in since I have been at the club, to what I had when I took over, to what I have now, the club has never been in a better state for years.

"You might think that is difficult to believe but it is not as if we are looking at ten players coming in again, we are looking at probably two players this summer, that is the situation we are now in.

"I think the whole club is now geared to going forward."

Warnock has transformed the playing staff at Elland Road since his arrival. Fifteen players have moved on a permanent basis whilst four others, who are expected to be shown the door in the summer, are currently out on loan for the remainder of the season. Of the four, Paul Rachubka, Paul Connolly and Patrick Kisnorbo are all out of contract at the end of the season and Danny Pugh, who will still have a year remaining on his contract, is still on the transfer list having been told by Warnock last summer that he is free to find another club.

The Leeds boss brought in eleven new players before the season started, with striker Andy Gray being moving on in January and he has added four more players to the squad since the season started.

GFH Capital also took over the ownership at Elland Road in December after a long drawn out takeover and this summer will be a big test of the ambitions of the new owners, who are already looking for outside investment to the club.
