Vital Leeds looks at the head-to-head record against Blackpool at Elland Road over the years.
The two sides have only ever met on 20 occasions at Elland Road, with Leeds winning 9, Blackpool 3 and 8 draws.
They met at Elland Road last season for over 40 years. The game proved to be a personal nightmare for Leeds goalkeeper Paul Rachubka, who was coming up against one of his former clubs.
Having made some high profile errors in four previous games since replacing the injured Andy Lonergan, this was to prove the final straw. A calamitous first half performance saw him at fault for all three goals as Leeds trailed 3-0 at half time and defender Tom Lees had been sent off. His performance was so bad, that 18-year-old reserve goalkeeper Alex Cairns was sent out to warm up after half hour and he replaced him at half time. Leeds went on to lose 5-0, but all the damage had been done in the first half. Rachubka has not played for Leeds since.
The previous meeting came way back on November 14th 1970, when Johnny Giles, Paul Madeley and Jack Charlton scored in a 3-1 win.
The first ever meeting between the two sides came during the 1920/21 season when Leeds won a Second Division encounter 2-0 thanks to goals from Jimmy Walton and George Mason.
Blackpool have only enjoyed three wins at Elland Road, 4-2 during the 1959/60, 2-1 during the 1965/66 season and the 5-0 win last season.
Leeds biggest victory came on Boxing Day 1956 when they won 5-0. Harold Brook scored a hat trick, his second of the season for Leeds and John Charles scored twice.
