LUFC Leeds Loan Watch - Relegation dogfights

Vital Leeds looks at how the loan players did in the games over the weekend.

It looks like the vast majority of the Leeds loan players are in relegation dogfights for the final few months of the season.

Patrick Kisnorbo - Ipswich Town (Rest of season)
After making his debut in the FA Cup defeat at Aston Villa, Kisnorbo has been an unused substitute in their last five Ipswich games.

Ipswich lost to resurgent Blackburn Rovers with Jordan Rhodes scoring the only goal of the game. Leeds are at Ewood Park on the 23rd February.

The Tractor boys remain deep in trouble and are just one point above the relegation zone.

Danny Pugh - Sheffield Wednesday (Rest of season)
Danny Pugh is settling into life at Hillsborough. Pugh played the 90 minutes as he helped Wednesday come from two goals down to claim a point in a 2-2 draw. He once again claimed an assist, as his corner was bundled in by Leroy Lita to get them back in the game at 2-1.

Wednesday remain in a relegation dogfight and they are just two points above the relegation zone.

Pugh has now made 3 appearances since arriving at Hillsborough.

Zac Thompson - Bury (Rest of season)
Thompson once again completed 90 minutes as Bury continue to scrap at the foot of League One. After beating Doncaster last weekend, they twice came from behind to claim a point at promotion chasing Brentford.

Despite the point, Bury remain in the relegation places and are five points from safety with the teams just outside the relegation zone winning.

The midfielder has made 20 appearances for Bury in two spells since originally arriving at Gigg Lane in October.

Paul Connolly - Preston North End (Rest of season)
Connolly completed another 90 minutes for Preston as they went down 1-0 at Colchester United.

Preston finished the game with ten men after Bailey Wright picked up two yellow cards in the space of four minutes late in the game.

Connolly is going to find himself in a relegation dogfight at Deepdale. The defeat at Colchester means they have won just one of their last thirteen league games and they are now just five points above the relegation zone.

Connolly has made 3 appearances since signing for Preston.

Paul Rachubka - Accrington Stanley (Rest of season)
Rachubka completed another 90 minutes for Stanley as they came close to a first win in five games against promotion chasing Southend United at home.

Stanley led thanks to a James Gray goal just before the hour and their chances of claiming a crucial three points increased when Southend were reduced to ten men after Ryan Cresswell was shown a straight red card shortly afterwards.

Southend showed their fighting spirit and Rachubka was beaten by a shot low down to his right by Kevan Hurst with just eight minutes remaining.

The goalkeeper is another Leeds loan player caught up in a relegation dogfight. Accrington have won just one of their last fifteen games in League Two and are just two points above the relegation zone.

Rachubka has now made 7 appearances in his two spells with Stanley.

Charlie Taylor - Inverness Caledonian Thistle (Rest of season)
Taylor was an unused substitute, as Inverness let a one goal lead slip against champions elect Celtic.

Celtic eventually won 3-1 and are now eighteen points clear of Inverness, who remain second in the SPL despite the defeat.

Taylor has made just one substitute appearance since arriving at Inverness.

Ross Killock - Alfreton Town (loan ends March)
Killock played no part for Alfreton, as they were beaten 3-0 at home by Woking.

The young defender played twice for the Leeds development side last week, including a trip to Ireland on Thursday that saw them draw 1-1 with Cork City.

Alfreton have now won just one of their seven games in 2013 and they are now just five points above the relegation places.

The 18-year-old has made 19 appearances with18 starts since joining them in October.

Alex Cairns - Stalybridge Celtic - (Loan ends March)
Cairns completed 90 minutes for Celtic in their home game against Worcester City and he was beaten twice in the last ten minutes as Worcester won 2-0.

Celtic are now in mid table after this latest defeat, a fourth game without a win, which has seen them drop out of the play-off places in the Blue Square Conference North Division.

The 20-year-old has played 30 times for Celtic this season, keeping 7 clean sheets.

Nathan Turner - Chester FC (Rest of season)
Chester were without a game this weekend in the Blue Square Bet North Division. The free weekend saw their lead at the top of the Division cut to fourteen points by second placed Guiseley, who still have four games in hand.

Nathan has made 9 appearances since joining them in November and he has scored one goal.

Lewis Turner - Chester FC (Rest of season)
Lewis is still waiting for his debut for Chester.
