LUFC Parting message from Becchio to fans

LUFC Parting message from Becchio to fans

Luciano Becchio left a parting message to the Leeds United fans that he has left behind for the Premier League and Norwich City.

Becchio left on Thursday in a swap deal that saw Steve Morison join Leeds as well as a nominal fee and the Argentinian striker, who spent four-and-a-half years at Elland Road says his time at the club were the most enjoyable of his career.

Speaking on the official website , Becchio said, 'The years I spent at Leeds were the most marvellous, and until today, the happiest of my career.

'I will carry the affection and love of the Leeds fans in my heart.

'I want to thank Leeds United for giving me the opportunity to play in the English league and I would like to thank Gwyn Williams for giving me the chance to play for Leeds United."

Becchio netted 86 times during his time at Elland Road to put himself in the top ten goalscorers in the clubs history. He had netted 19 times this season, a tally hat saw a number of club chasing his signature in the transfer window.

The 29-year-old handed in a transfer request last week with a move abroad the most likely outcome, with clubs in Turkey and China interested.

Leeds turned down four offers from abroad and with those clubs dithering, Premier League side Norwich took the opportunity to tempt Becchio to Carrow Road.

Becchio becomes the fourth Leeds player in recent seasons to join Norwich, following Bradley Johnson, Jonny Howson and Robert Snodgrass.
