LUFC Habib Habibou in Leeds talks

SV Zulte Waregem club communication officer Cedric Tack says striker Habib Habibou has held talks with Leeds United.

Habibou has been strongly linked with a move to Elland Road during the January transfer window and Tack confirmed that the player had spent time with Leeds.

"Leeds started their interest in Habib at the start of January," Tack told BBC Radio Leeds.

"Habib left our training session in Marbella on January 6th to do some tests and talk with Leeds.

"At this stage we have not received an official offer from the club, but we know there are some clubs interested in Habib and we have heard through the grapevine that Leeds are one of them.

"I believe the player has talked with Leeds as well as other clubs in England but so far we have had no official offer."

The 25-year-old striker has netted 6 times in 14 appearances this season for Zulte Waregem in the Belgium Pro-League, included a hat trick against Lierse in September.

Habibou came through the ranks at French side Paris St Germain before returning to his native Belgium, joining Charleroi.

He had loan spells with Belgium side A.F.C Tubize as well as Romanian side Steaua Bucharest before signing for Zulte Waregem in 2010.

Habibou is also believed to have had a trial with Premier League side Queens Park Rangers.
