LUFC Brown on verge of ban after ninth yellow card

Leeds United midfielder Michael Brown is now just one yellow card away from a two-match suspension.

Brown picked up his ninth yellow card of the season in the dying seconds of the FA Cup clash with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. The veteran midfielder clattered into Tottenham midfielder Scott Parker in a dangerous position and Leeds boss Neil Warnock admitted after the game that he would have crucified him had Tottenham scored from the resulting free kick.

Players are forced to serve suspensions under the totting up system over a season. Brown and Aidy White were the only Leeds players to serve a one-match suspension for picking up five yellow cards before January 1st and Brown must now go thirteen games (up to and including Charlton Athletic on April 6th) to avoid a two-match suspension for ten yellow cards.

*One match ban for five yellow cards picked up on or before December 31st.

*Two match ban for ten yellow cards picked up on or before April 6th.

*Three match ban for fifteen yellow cards picked up at any time during the season.
