'If It's Football, It's Vital'

LUFC Leeds United Fans View v Tottenham

Tiny T gives us his usual fans view from the Leeds games at Elland Road.

This time after the memorable FA Cup win over Tottenham Hotspur.

Ashdown 9
He stood no chance with the goal, good game all round with some vital stops.

Byram 9 Star man
Controlled performance both at the back and going forward, Gareth??? and Aaron ??? Neither got any change out of Sam.

Lees 9
Outstanding at the heart of the defence, won just about everything.

Peltier 9
We have found his right position at last. A great block tackle at the end, his best game of the season.

White 8
His best game at left back. Occasionally beaten but it did not matter. One head-to-head run with Bale saw him win a foul.

Green 7
A quieter game for him but tracked and harried all game.

Austin 7
Quietly effective covered plenty of ground closing down, showed you didn't need to tackle to be effective.

Brown 9
Where did this performance come from? Rolled back the years with telling captains performance

Varney 8
Solid in attack and in defence, another who had his best game for Leeds. What a goal to get us going as well.

McCormack 9
Great finish and he led the front line well, back to the old Ross.

Diouf 9
A great performance on the big stage. Spurs had three marking him at one stage.

Subs
Pearce and Somma
Not on long enough

Summary
This was a true team performance from one to eleven. As a supporter, you couldn't have asked for any more effort and as fans, we have the reward of a trip to the Etihad.

From the first to last whistle we were the better team.
It was all supposed to revolve around Gareth ???? and how many they would beat us by, but we rolled up the sleeves and showed some Yorkshire grit.

The defence marshalled by Lees and a midfield led by Brown with McCormack and Diouf pulling the strings up front, this was a totally different team than what we have had to rely on all season.
Quick in attack, solid at the back, with a hard working midfield, which saw the better team win.
We stopped the crosses and the goals against stopped as well. A well-worked move by Spurs got them back into the game but we could have scored late on with McCormack through, only for Friedel to make the save.

Looking forward, welly and Sheep Brigade next week. Can we produce for the second week? Play like today and Cardiff will be worried, and we owe them one as they have become a bit of a bogey side.
