LUFC Dawson inspires youth cup success

Chris Dawson enhanced his growing reputation as Leeds United booked their place in the FA Youth Cup Fifth Round with a 6-1 win over Burton Albion at Elland Road.

Dawson gave Leeds the perfect start when he scored twice in the first seven minutes. His first goal came after a quick break by Lewis Walters and he fired his second home from the edge of the area.

Alex Mowatt made it 3-0 before the half hour when he sent the Burton goalkeeper the wrong way from the penalty spot after a foul on Luke Parkin.

Burton had a glimmer of hope in the tie when Ben Cowdrill pulled a goal back for the visitors.

Dawson completed his hat trick just before the hour when he scored the second penalty of the evening for Leeds after he had been fouled in the area.

Defender Afolabi Coker headed home to make it 5-1 with just over ten minutes remaining after another foul on Dawson.

Dawson was substituted soon afterwards along with Luke Parkin and they were replaced by Lewis Cook and Eoghan Stokes and it was Stokes who finished the night`s goalscoring with a well taken sixth for Leeds.

Leeds will now travel to either Histon or Liverpool in the Fifth Round, who meet in their Fourth Round tie next Wednesday night.
