LUFC Leeds Transfer Rumours - January 6th - 13th

Vital Leeds United continue to keep you up to date with all the rumours doing the rounds of the coming and goings during the January transfer window.

Leeds finally brought in a new face and an old one during the January transfer window.

Michael Tonge had been reported as on the verge of a return to Leeds since his initial loan from Stoke City ended on December 22nd and he finally signed a two and a half year deal on Thursday.

The following day, young Everton midfielder Ross Barkley joined on a one-month loan deal.

Neil Warnock tried to sign the England under 21 international in August but lost out to Sheffield Wednesday, where he spent the first half of the season.

Barkley arrived at Elland Road after David Moyes rang Warnock to see if he was still interested in signing the 19-year-old.

On to the rumours doing the rounds in the past week. A player much In the news, Bradford City striker Nakhi Wells has been linked with a move to Elland Road by various sources including the Daily Mirror and Sky Sports. Wells as sprung to prominence with Bradford reaching the semi-final of the League Cup and he scored against Aston Villa in the first leg on Tuesday night.

Reports suggest that Leeds are ready to offer £1 million for the Bermudan international who signed a new three year deal at Bradford in September.

Young Wycombe Wanderers defender Charles Dunne was reported by the Buckinghamshire Advertiser as being linked with a move to Leeds.

The versatile 19-year-old can play anywhere across the back four and he has made 24 appearances this season for the Chairboys.

Most of the players this week, most Leeds fans who probably ask - Who? And the next one is no different.

Dagenham and Redbridge defender Femi Ilesanmi was reported by the Daily Star as being on the radar of Leeds United.

The 21-year-old has made close to 100 appearances for Dagenham since making his Football League debut in 2010, including 32 appearances this season.

Probably the most outrageous this week was the link with Rayo Vallecano striker Leo Baptistao. The Sun reported that Leeds amongst a number of Premier League clubs were ready to offer £5 million for the 20-year-old striker who has netted six times in eighteen appearances in this his first season in the first team.

The final player that I have seen linked with a move to Elland Road this week is Mouhamadou Habib Habibou.

The 6`4" striker is currently plying his trade in the Belgium league with SV Zulte Waregem and he has scored six times in thirteen appearances this season. Sky Sports suggest that Leeds along with Queens Park Rangers have given the player a trial recently and are both interested in signing the 25-year-old.

Now on to the rumours of players leaving the club.

Perennial transfer window bogey side Norwich City are once again being linked with a move for a Leeds player. Having been linked with young defender Sam Byram last week, they are this week interested in signing leading goalscorer Luciano Becchio according to Sky Sports. The worrying thing is, Leeds boss Neil Warnock said after Saturday`s poor performance at Barnsley that Becchio didn`t have his mind on the game at Leeds, suggesting that Becchio is aware of interest from other clubs.

Young defender Tom Lees is also seeing interest in him hotting up with Aston Villa, Celtic, QPR, Wigan & Cardiff all reported to be interested in signing the England under 21 international, who somehow cannot get into the Leeds side at the moment.

All the rumours that I put up have been in the national press, local press or websites such as Skysports.com, Clubcall.com, and Teamtalk.com amongst others and not from sites where people just put up their wish list and make out that they have inside knowledge through their best mate`s uncle`s brother.

Once again, if anybody reads anything then please let me know on the Vital Leeds forum.
