LUFC Jones - Hall must get used to Leeds way

Leeds United assistant manager Mick Jones says winger Ryan Hall must get used to playing for a club like Leeds if he is to become a top player.

Hall recently signed a two and a half year deal at Elland Road after joining the club on loan from League Two side Southend United in October.

First team opportunities have been few and far between since his arrival and he got a rare opportunity in the starting line-up against Birmingham City last weekend.

Hall disappointed and he was substituted at half time and Jones says he must quickly adapt to playing for a championship club the size of Leeds if he is to succeed in his career.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Jones said, "He didn`t cope well on Saturday. I don`t know if he was like the rest of us and coming down with the virus. He didn`t look sharp and he didn`t look ready for the game.

"He is only a boy but it is a big thing to live up to at a big club like Leeds. It is something he has to live with if he is to be a top player."

The 25-year-old started out at Crystal Palace, where he worked with Jones and Warnock before being released and drifting into non-league football after a number of off-field problems.

After establishing himself with non-league Bromley, he was given a second opportunity in the Football League with Southend United.

Hall excelled in his two seasons at Roots Hall and he scored 23 times for the club and was a leader in the Football League for assists.

A pre-season fall out with Southend manager Paul Sturrock saw him frozen out at Southend and Leeds boss Neil Warnock gave him a second chance to prove he was capable at championship level.

He has made just three starts in six appearances since his arrival at Elland Road and he has only shown brief glimpses of what he is capable of, most notably at Huddersfield Town when he came off the bench to set up Leeds third and fourth goals.
