LUFC Warnock - Opportunity to push for promotion

LUFC Warnock - Opportunity to push for promotion

Leeds United boss Neil Warnock says the club have a good opportunity to push for promotion in the second half of the season.

Leeds have climbed into eighth place in the championship after winning six of their last nine championship games and are now just two points outside the play-off places.

Warnock is looking for a record-breaking eighth promotion in his career and he believes there is a great opportunity to do that at Leeds this season.

Speaking on LUTV, Warnock said, "We have an opportunity in the second half of the season to make a push for promotion. We don`t want to be languishing in mid table; we want to get into the top six."

Leeds have just twenty games remaining this season and they must sort out their away form if they are to have any chance of promotion.

Whilst they have won their last five in a row at home, they have won just three times away from home this season and have picked up just twelve points in their thirteen away games.

Leeds have lost five of their last six on the road, their only win coming in the Yorkshire derby at Huddersfield Town.

The whites will be hoping they can make it a Yorkshire double when they travel to Barnsley on Saturday.

Leeds have a bad record at Oakwell in recent seasons and they have conceded nine goals in their last two visits.

A win for Leeds would complete their first double of the season having beaten Barnsley 1-0 at Elland Road in October thanks to a Luciano Becchio penalty.
