LUFC Tonge expected to seal Leeds move

Midfielder Michael Tonge is set to seal a return to Leeds United this week.

The 29-year-old has recently returned to parent club Stoke City after spending three months at Elland Road on loan.

Tonge made 22 appearances during his initial stay with Leeds and he is expected to sign a two and a half year deal for a nominal fee.

The move will bring to an end a disappointing four-year spell at the Britannia Stadium since a £2 million move in the summer of 2008.

He has made just 18 appearances for Stoke with just 5 of them being starts.

Tonge started his career with Neil Warnock at Sheffield United where he made just over 300 appearances.

During his time with Leeds in the first half of the season, he netted five times, including crucial goals at Bristol City and Sheffield Wednesday.

It is expected that he will be signed in time for the game at Barnsley on Saturday.
