Vital Leeds looks at the head-to-head record between Barnsley and Leeds United at Oakwell over the years.
The two clubs have met on 27 previous occasions at Oakwell with Barnsley having the advantage with 12 wins, 8 draws and 7 defeats.
The first ever meeting between the two came during the 1920/21 season when they shared the points in a 1-1 draw with Leeds goal coming from Tommy Howarth.
Barnsley enjoyed their first win in the third encounter when they won 1-0 in the 1922/23 season.
Leeds enjoyed their first win the following season when Jack Swann (2) and Percy Whipp scored in a 3-1 win.
There has never been a shortage of goals when the two sides have met at Oakwell.
The 27 games have produced 81 goals at 3 goals per game.
Barnsley have only failed to score on three occasions with the last coming during the 1986/87 season.
Leeds have only failed to score on five occasions with the last coming during the 1989/90 season.
There has never been a 0-0 draw at Oakwell and both sides have scored in nineteen of the twenty-seven games.
The last four encounters have produced twenty-two goals.
Leeds last win at Oakwell came in the 1997/98 season when they came from two down in to win 3-2.
Andy Liddell and Ashley Ward had fired Barnsley into a two-goal lead inside thirty minutes but goals from Alfie Inge Haaland, Rod Wallace and Derek Lilley turned the game round in Leeds favour.
Barnsley won by the same score line during the 2006/07 season.
Martin Devaney put Barnsley ahead but two goals by Shaun Derry and Robbie Blake in the final minute of the first half put Leeds ahead.
Second half goals from Michael McIndoe and Brian Howard won the game for Barnsley.
The two sides have met in each of the last two seasons.
When the two sides met in the 2010/11 season, Leeds went into an early lead through Jonny Howson. Goals from Garry O`Connor, Jim O`Brien, Diego Arismendi, Neil Collins own goal and Andy Hammill put Barnsley 5-1 ahead before Davide Somma scored a late consolation for Leeds.
Last season, the two clubs met on New Year`s Eve. Barnsley continued their recent good record against Leeds and completed the double with a 4-1 win having won 2-1 at Leeds just a month earlier.
Ricado Vaz Te scored a hat trick and Craig Davies scored the other for Barnsley. Luciano Becchio netted a late consolation for Leeds.
