LUFC Warnock hoping to add to squad this week

Leeds United boss Neil Warnock says he hopes to have a new signing on board for the trip to Barnsley on Saturday.

Warnock stated last month that he was desperate to add to his squad sooner rather than later in the January transfer window.

Leeds have so far brought in just Ryan Hall in January on a long-term contract after the winger spent three months on loan at Elland Road.

The whites haven`t played in the championship since New Year`s Day and Warnock is hopeful that a player can be brought in ahead of the game on Saturday, as Leeds look to continue their push for the play-off places.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Warnock said, "We have put forward a few offers for players and I am hoping to get one in for the weekend."

Many suspect that the signing will be that of Michael Tonge who spent three months on loan at Elland Road in the first half of the season.

Tonge is surplus to requirements at parent club Stoke City and Warnock wants to add the midfielder to the squad, who made 22 appearances for Leeds in his initial loan spell.
