LUFC Leeds United Loan Watch - January 5th

LUFC Leeds United Loan Watch - January 5th

Vital Leeds looks at how the loan players did in the games over the weekend.

Patrick Kisnorbo joined the players out on loan this week as he joined Ipswich Town, whilst a few returned from their loan spells.

Patrick Kisnorbo - Ipswich Town (loan ends January 29th)
Kisnorbo made his first start since the end of August as Ipswich travelled to Aston Villa in the FA Cup.

The Australian international was booked inside fifteen minutes for a foul on Charles N`Zogbia.

Ipswich led at half time but were pegged back in the opening minute of the second half when Kisnorbo failed to get close enough to Darren Bent, who fired home from the edge of the area.

Kisnorbo was caught on his heels for the Villa winner when Andreas Weimann beat him to a header and beat Scott Loach in the Ipswich goal.

His bad afternoon was almost completed when he was lucky not to slice the ball into his own goal.

Former Leeds loan player Eric Lichaj opened the scoring when he put through his own goal to give Ipswich the lead.

Zac Thompson - Bury
He has now returned to Elland Road after his loan spell ended on January 4th. Bury are keen to extend the loan but are currently under a transfer embargo placed by the Football League.

The midfielder who celebrated his 20th birthday on Saturday made 16 appearances for Bury after arriving in October.

Robbie Rogers - Stevenage (loan ends Jan 15th)
Rogers was once again left out of the Stevenage squad as they won 2-1 at Crewe Alexandra.

Rogers has made just 9 appearances since joining Stevenage in August with only three of them being starts.

Ross Killock - Alfreton Town (loan ends Jan 26th)
The defender played the full 90 minutes for Alfreton as they twice came from behind to beat Dartford 3-2 at home.

Alfreton won the game in the last minute and are now up to 14th in the Blue Square Premier Division.

Killock faces a stern test in midweek when second placed Wrexham travel to Alfreton.

The 19 year old, who recently extended his loan, has made 15 appearances with14 starts since joining them in October.

Alex Cairns - Stalybridge Celtic
The young goalkeeper celebrated his 20th birthday in the week by extending his loan deal at Celtic.

Cairns was sent off on New Year`s Day in the defeat at Altrincham in what was a case of mistaken identity. Cairns was shown a red card despite the foul being made by teammate Kelvin Bleau.

The keeper was not suspended for the game with Hinckley United on Saturday and he kept his seventh clean sheet of the season as they won 3-0 away from home.

The win for Celtic moves them up to tenth place in The Blue Square North Division and they are now just two points behind Altrincham in fifth.

The 20 year old has played 26 times for Celtic this season and he has started every game since his arrival in August.

Lewis Turner - Harrogate Town
Lewis is now back at Elland Road after coming to the end of his loan this week.

He made just one substitutes appearance after joining them towards the end of November.

Nathan Turner - Chester FC (loan ends Jan 26th)
The 20 year old extended his current loan deal at the Deva Stadium earlier this week, staying with the Blue Square North Division pacesetters until the end of the month.

Nathan played the 90 minutes as Chester dropped their first points in thirteen games as they were held to a 0-0 draw at Bradford Park Avenue.

It also brought to an end an amazing record that had seen Chester score in their previous 62 games. They did miss a great chance to keep the record going but Matty McGinn saw a second half penalty saved.

Despite dropping points, they remain 13 points clear at the top of the table and they are back in action in midweek against Oxford City.

Nathan has now made five appearances since joining them in November.
