Leeds United development squad manager Neil Redfearn has seen his odds for the vacant manager`s post at Barnsley tumble.
Redfearn is now third favourite for the post behind Sean O`Driscoll and caretaker boss David Flitcroft with the leading bookmakers who are currently giving out odds on the vacancy.
The 47 year old is now 11/2 with SkyBET for the job with O`Driscoll 6/5 and Flitcroft 5/2.
The former Barnsley midfielder spent almost seven years at Oakwell as a player between 1991 and 1998, making over 300 appearances and helping them into the Premier League.
Redfearn has had a brief career in management having had a permanent managerial role with Northwich Victoria and Scarborough.
He has also held caretaker roles at Halifax Town, York City and he took temporary charge at Elland Road with Leeds last season following the sacking of Simon Grayson.
Redfearn arrived at Elland Road in 2008 following the arrival of Grayson as manager and he took on the role of youth team manager. He was promoted to development squad manager in December 2010 and he helped the reserve team to the league title in his first season.
Barnsley are hoping to have their new manager in place in time for their home game with Leeds on Saturday January 11th.
The tykes are currently bottom of the championship, four points from safety.
