LUFC Former defender set for Norwegian trial

Former Leeds United defender Ben Parker is training with the squad before heading off for a trial with Norwegian side Sarpsborg.

Parker is set to join up with Sarpsborg, who are now managed by former Leeds striker Brian Deane.

Deane was appointed as Sarpsborg manager in November after the club had gained promotion to the Norwegian top division and he is to give Parker a chance to earn a deal with the club after three years in the wilderness after a string of injuries..

The Leeds academy product looked to have a bright future at Elland Road until a horrendous run of injuries saw him make just nine appearances in three seasons, in a spell that saw him require seven operations.

After being released by Leeds in the summer he failed to find a club until a successful trial with Bury in League One saw him offered a deal.

Parker was all set to sign for Bury until the club were hit with a transfer embargo, leaving him without a club once again.

The 25 year old made 55 appearances for Leeds during his time at Elland Road.
