Leeds United goalkeeper Paul Rachubka could be on his way back to Elland Road after failing to have his recent sending off overturned whilst with Accrington Stanley.
Rachubka was sent off in the weekend game with Plymouth Argyle after putting his face into the face of Argyle midfielder Nick Chadwick. Stanley decided to appeal against the sending off, allowing him to play in the 2-1 defeat at Bradford City on Boxing Day with the FA not returning from the Christmas break until today..
An FA panel decided that the incident was worthy of a sending off and he will now serve an automatic three match suspension starting with the game at Rotherham United on Saturday.
The news will come as a blow to Stanley who only have 18-year-old Andrew Dawber currently available to them. The League Two side will now hope to bring in another goalkeeper on an emergency loan, which could spell the end of Rachubka`s stay with the League Two side.
Rachubka signed for Stanley on an emergency week-to-week contract after regular goalkeeper Ian Dunbavin suffered a long-term injury. He has played in all six of their games since his arrival, with Stanley failing to win any of the games.
Leeds boss Neil Warnock will still be hoping to offload the goalkeeper in January having placed him on the transfer list in the summer.
The experienced goalkeeper was placed on the transfer list after a torrid first season at Elland Road, which culminated in him being hauled off at half time in the 5-0 home loss to Blackpool in November 2011, after he had been at fault for the opening three Blackpool goals.
The 31-year-old is out of contract at Elland Road at the end of this season.
