LUFC Warnock wants Elland Road to be a fortress

Leeds United boss Neil Warnock says he wants to turn Elland Road into a fortress after watching his side make it three wins in a row at home.

The three wins came on the back of one of their heaviest home defeats in their history when Watford beat nine men Leeds 6-1.

The wins against Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Ipswich Town is the first time that Leeds have won three in a row at home since September and October 2011 and Warnock feels the side are turning a corner with their home performances.

Speaking on LUTV, Warnock said, "We have to make Elland Road a fortress and I think we are turning the corner. It is not easy for teams to come to Elland Road now."

In recent seasons, Elland Road has been a happy hunting ground for the opposition and last season saw Leeds lose eleven games at home, the worst season in their history.

As well as the six conceded against Watford, since their return to the championship in 2010, Leeds have also conceded six against Preston, five against Blackpool and they suffered their worst ever home defeat against Nottingham Forest in March when Nottingham Forest beat them 7-3.

It was only in 2009 that Leeds set a club record fifteen consecutive wins under former boss Simon Grayson and Warnock will now be hoping that Leeds can have a similar run to climb into the top six in the table and give Warnock the chance of a record breaking eighth career promotion.
